Mini Cards with Mini Sets

Hi,

I know, it is still Sunday ... but I had a great idea for the Lawnscaping Challenge No. 80 - Mini. I made two mini cards using two mini sets.

I created a background on watercolor paper with Distress Inks and stamped the stems and bees on this background. Then I embossed that cute honeycomb texture. I added the bee and the sentiments with foam tape and the flowers with Glossy Accents.
As a final result I got something like a girl and a boy card, don't you think??

Here are pictures of the individual cards.

Here is my list of supplies:
Lawn Fawn - Bee mine
Lawn Fawn - Flying by
Sizzix Embossing Folders - Bubble and Honeycomb Set
flower-shaped sequins
white cardstock
Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Bundled Sage, Mowed Lawn)
Hero Arts Shadow Ink (Cornflower, Soft Lilac, Tide Pool, Bubblegum, Green Hills, Field Greens)

Hope you like my cards.

Yours,
Tanja

Hippo Birdie to You

Good Morning,

with my sons birthday coming up, the task was clear: create a fun birthday card for a 7th Birthday.

While working on this card I had the "Lawnscaping Challenge No. 80 - Mini" in mind.

I chose one of my favorite papers from the Hello Sunshine collection as a frame. As a second step, I created a background on watercolor paper using my sponge daubers and matching Distress Inks. For my focal point I used the Mini Set "Year Four". I built a birdie-pyramid with seven birds on the back of that cute little hippo. I paper-pieced he birds, the hippo and the balloons with the help of the Let's Polka paper pack. I added a seven and for that extra dimenson some real twine holding the balloons.
For the sentiment I used heat embossing with several different powders to also match the colors of the frame. I first stamped the sentiment with Versamark and then sprinkled the first color with a spoon only on certain spots and heat-embossed this first color. Afterwards, I filled the waste back into the jar and so on. By doing so, you don't waste any embossing powder.

Here are some close-ups:

Here is my list of supplies:
Lawn Fawn - Year Four
Lawn Fawn - Quinn's 123s
Lawn Fawn - Hello Sunshine petite paper pack
Lawn Fawn - Let's Polka petite paper pack
Zing! Embossing Powder - Butter
Ranger Embossing Powder - Turquoise
Sternenstaub Embossing Powder - Perlmutt Silber
Ranger Adirondack Embossing Powder - Wild Plum
Distress Ink (Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, Pumice Stone)
Tsukineko - Sponge Daubers
white twine

I am also going to link this card up to the Seize the Birthday Challenge.

And since I used some bright colors - especially for the confetti background - I will upload this card to the Keep it Simple! Challenge #38: Bright Sparks, too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Yours,
Tanja

Flying by to say Hi

Hi there,

here is the card that I created for the Be Inspired Challenge #52.

When I saw the inspirational photo, I thought shimmery white, light greens, dandelions and something light and flying.

As a first step I created my own background paper using Distress Re-Inkers and two tiny stamps from Bot Time and Priceless Joy. I stamped and embossed and then added a light watercolor-wash. Now I needed something light and flying - a butterfly is quite the fit. I added an extra layer of vellum to emphasize the lightness and to give the illusion of wing movement. As a last step I added a matching sentiment.

Here is a close-up of the butterfly:

I hope, you like the result.

As soon as the InLinkz-Tool is visible, I am also going to upload this card to the Creative Friday Challenge #101 - DIY Papier.

Here is my list of supplies:
Brilliance (Pearlescent Thyme)
white cardstock
vellum

Hope to see you again soon.

Yours,
Tanja

Go to your Happy Place

Hi,

I'm back. Yesterday, I spent the whole day on the playground with my two children.

Here is the card that I created being inspired by the retrosketches #111 Challenge.

Since I used a Papersmooches stamp set, I am also going to link this card up the the

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge - Anything goes

and to the Moving along with the Times Challenge - Transportation.

Here is my list of supplies:
Paper Smooches  - Get outta Town
Simple Stories - Urban Traveler
Distress Ink (Iced Spruce, Frayed Burlap, Antique Linen, Stormy Sky, Bundled Sage)
vanilla cardstock
star brad

When I use Distress Ink with clear stamps, I always use Versamark underneath - that helps prevent pooling and leads to better stamping results.

Until next time.

Yours,
Tanja

Let's Shell-ebrate

Hi,

it's me again.
Here is the card that I created for the The Paper Players Challenge #192 -  A CAS Challenge from Nance

And since there is a turtle on the card, I will also link it up to the
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says Animal Antics

One more: I would really love to win the gift voucher from the wonderful Make the Day Special Stamp Store. For this reason, I am going to upload it to the Make the Day Special Stamp Store Prize Challenge No. 1 - Anything goes.

It is always quite hard for me to stay that clean and simple - so it really was a challenge ... Instead of patterned paper I used washi tape to create the scene with clouds in the sky and flowers on the ground for the turtle to stand on.

Here is my list of supplies:
Paper Smooches - Party Posse
washi tape
white cardstock

I hope that you like this little turtle girl ... did you notice the eyelashes??

Yours,
Tanja

Happy Birthday

Hi,

today, I created a Birthday card for the son of a friend who just turned six - a little dinosaur scene from a land far far away ...

As a first step, I created a background on watercolor paper with my distress inks. After stamping the stars, I glued down my critters that I colored with the Inktense pencils. I decided to give the little stegosaurus fun rainbow spikes on his back.

I will link this card up to the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Animal Antics

Make the Day Special Stamp Store Prize Challenge No. 1 - Anything goes

Moving along with the Times Challenge - A Card containing the Word Happy

H*PPY Birthday

Hi,

it's me again.

I would like to show you this pretty Birthday Card.

The Fill in the Blank stamp set offers so many possibilities. In my case I have used a balloon instead of the "A" in "Happy". I covered the black letters with the Wink of Stella Clear Brush and added Glossy Accents to the balloon to give it that extra dimension and shine. And don't you just love the fun background? I used my Sponge Daubers to create "Confetti" with some of my favorite Distress Ink colors.

I am going to link this card up to the following challenges:

AEI♥U Challenge #5 - Color Combo

I added Glossy Accents with the Clear Wink of Stella underneath to the umbrella and the boots to give them that rubbery shiny finish that they have in real life.

Here is my list of supplies:

Happy Day!

Hi,

here is a fun card that I created for the Paper Smooches SPARKS Picture Perfect Challenge.

.

In the process, I got inspired by the sketch from the retrosketches #110 Challenge which was still on my desk.

And since I created my own watercolor background, I am going to link it up the the "Just us Girls" Technique Challenge #236 as well.

Here is my list of supplies:
Paper Smooches - We totally Click
Paper Smooches - Mini Monograms
Lawn Fawn - Hello Sunshine petite paper pack
vellum
white cardstock
ek success - Mini Pennant Set
Hero Arts Shadow Inks (Soft Lilac, Cornflower, Green Hills, Butter Bar, Orange Soda, Pale Tomato)
white twine
Staedtler - Glitter Gel Crayons

The mentioned Glitter Gel Crayons are regarding their consistency similar to the Gelatos. The advantage is: they offer a metallic/glitter version in every color of the rainbow and they are a little cheaper.

Tanja
